After an embarrassing night for football on Tuesday that saw the qualification of Chelsea into the Champions League final, Wednesday will hopefully bring us a real match and at least one team worthy of the final as Real Madrid welcomes Bayern Munchen.

Real Madrid will head into this decisive second leg with one goal handicap as the scoreline last week showed 2-1 for Bayern after a very exciting game decided in extra time by a goal from Gomez.

Real certainly has the upper hand in this one as they will play on Santiago Bernabeu in front of their fantastic crowd and with their weekend victory against Barcelona, morale is sky high, everyone at the club hopping for the Champions League trophy along with Primera Division title.

Bayern Munchen playing for glory in the Champions League after losing the battle for the Bundesliga and facing a very though DFB Pokal final against leaders Borussia Dortmund.

They are one of the most constant teams in this competition for the past few years and although not granted the best of odds through out the season, they manage to reach high stages in the competition.

My pick: Real Madrid to win ( Over 2.5 goals )

Things are really heating up in the Champions League with the first semi-final match on Tuesday as Bayern Munchen welcomes Real Madrid.

No doubt a very spectacular ahead with two offensive teams taking to the pitch and what can at first glance appear as an uneven game may turn to a surprise.

Bayern Munchen confronts a decisive match as they lost the battle for the Bundesliga, first with a defeat against leaders Borussia Dortmund followed by a poor display in a goalless draw against Mainz in the weekend.

Although it’s morale is rather low, Bayern is known for it’s strength in the Champions League, and by resting some of it’s top players last week their intention for this competition are quite obvious.

Real Madrid widely regarded as the favorite to reach the grand final, along with their rivals Barcelona, is in a different position all together. They lead the Primera Division and have the top chance of claiming the trophy and with no less than six victories out of their past seven games, their morale is high.

Great form displayed by Real Madrid in the weekend against Sporting Gijon, 3-1 the final score, with it fine offensive living up to it’s name but also with small glitches in defense.

My pick: Draw ( Under 2.5 goals )

Remaining two matches that will decide the last teams to enter the Champions League Semi-Finals will be played on Wednesday, with the main headline as Chelsea hosts Benfica.

The Champions League is Chelsea’s main objective this season as they hold only the 5th spot of the Premier League with little room to advance until the end of the competition.

They managed a crucial away goal to win 0-1 last week in Lisbon, a hard earned victory by Kalou’s goal late in the match. Coped with an enthusiastic win over Aston Villa in the weekend, and Chelsea appears to have restored it confidence and morale.

Benfica clearly with a handicap as they face this though trip to London, having failed to score any goals in the first round and with little chances of ascending in the next round of the Champions League.

None the less, Benfica managed an important victory last week against Braga in the domestic league, remaining just one point leaders Porto.

My pick: Chelsea to win ( Under 2.5 goals )

Return leg of the Champions League Quarter-Finals and what apparently seems to be an easy mission for Bayern Munchen as they welcome Olympique Marseille.

Bayern Munchen managed to take a crucial 2-0 lead in aggregate in the first round of the knock-out, more importantly managing this score on the opposition’s pitch, making for a more relaxed approach to this game.

No less than seven straight victories for Bayern Munchen in all competitions as they play for the trophy both in the Champions League and the Bundesliga.

Olympique Marseille with a completely opposite situation. They failed to win any of their past nine matches losing no less than eight out of them.

Having the handicap of two away goals and facing the trip to a highly charged Bayern stadium, Marseille is unlikely to produce a surprise, probably focusing more on their domestic league from now on.

My pick: Bayern Munchen to win ( Over 2.5 goals )

The two giants of international football, AC Milan and Barcelona will battle it out for the second time this season after the Champions League group clash.

AC Milan up against the Champions League trophy holders Barcelona, this time in the quarter-finals of the competition as the Milanese Devil is looking for the ultimate club trophy and the Serie A this season.

They managed a spectacular two all draw in the first Autumn game on Camp Nou but lost the second one 2-3 the final score, allowing Barcelona to win the group whilst Ac Milan placed second.

A good for for them in latest matches with three victories in their last four matches and with a distance of four points from Juventus, in the Serie A table, Milan’s morale is very good.

Barcelona regarded as favorites in qualifying to the final where their bitter rivals Real Madrid are expected to join them. A very good run form them in the Champions League so far, notably their 7-1 trashing of Bayer Leverkusen in the last match.

No less than nine straight victories for Barcelona in all competitions and all numbers seem to be in their favor but most likely this first match will prove crucial for the overall qualification economy.

My pick: Draw ( Under 2.5 goals )
