Europa League Final on Wednesday the 9th of May with two Spanish Clubs taking to the field as Atletico Madrid welcomes Athletic Bilbao in Bucharest, Romania.
Although a very though fixture to predict is seems that Atletico Madrid has a slight advantage, at least in terms of betting odds, given by their better Primera Division ranking and their superior run in Europa League so far.
Two matches where played between the two teams so far this season giving us a better reference for the Final ahead with both teams managing home wins in spectacular games, 3-0 victory for Athletic Bilbao in the start of the season and a 2-1 win for Atletico Madrid in the last game between the two.
Atletico Madrid managed to reach this final with an incredible 11 game winning streak in Europa League, they finished top of Group I with a comfortable four points advantage over second Udinese and continued to eliminate Lazio, Besiktas, Hannover 96 and Valencia in the semi-final stage.
A good form for Atletico in overall with no less than five victories in their past seven matches played, holding the 5th spot in the Primera division with one more round to go.
Athletic Bilbao was a true surprise in the Europa League this season, as their opponents, managing to finish top of Group F ahead of teams such as Salzburg and PSG only to run past Lokomotiv Moskva, Manchester united, Schalke 04 and Sporting Lisbon in the semi-final. Reaching the final after eliminating adversaries ranked much higher than that of Atletico Madrid.
Their overall form is not that good, no victories for them in their last three matches played, losing against Zaragoza and Real Madrid and finishing in a goalless draw against Getafe last week, nevertheless whilst resting their top players for this fixture.
