Basel last 5 matches: win win win win Lost

Basel last 3 away matches: win draw Lost

AS Roma welcomes FC Basel for a very important game in the final
configuration of Group E in the Europa League as both teams need the 3
points with Roma starting as favorites.

AS Roma is in a very good form showed by their past results with as
they won 4 out of the last 5 matches played both in the Serie A and
Europa League.

They now sit second in the group with a total of 7 points, 4 short of
Basel and with a 2 point advantage over third Fulham. They have won the
last 3 matches played at home and rows on the 9th spot of the domestic
league after passing the though phase encountered early on.

FC Basel are top of the group but with 9 points and 2 matches still
to go, this one against Roma and the last home with Fulham, seems to
have the toughest program of the 3 involved in the race for the top 2
spots.

They can certainly deal with a negative result in this match with a
victory or even a draw against Fulham, results that will see them go
through.

The team sits on the second spot of the Swiss Super League table with
a considerable gap of 7 points from leaders Young Boys and their 4 game
winning streak was stopped last week with a loss away to the leaders.

My tip: AS Roma to win

Galatasaray last 5 matches:  win win win draw Lost

Galatasaray last 3 home matches: win win draw

Panathinaikos last 5 matches: win win win draw Lost

Panathinaikos last 3 away matches: win win Lost

Both of these team are already qualified in the next phase of the
Europa League from Group F but this game announces itself to be anything
than a friendly as the adversity between the Turks and Greeks is well
known.

Galatasaray top the group now with 10 points in total from the 4
matches they have played and a superb goal statistic of 11 scored and
only 3 conceded, one from each team in the group.

They have a good from but show signs of a downward spiral as they did
not win the last 2 matches played both in the Super Lig, draw against
Manisaspor and a loss last week away to Bursaspor.

Panathinaikos is coming after a defeat in the derby match of Greece
against Olympiakos and they are determined to erase some of that with a
good game here.

The Greek team sits on the second spot of the group with 9 points so
far, 6 over third Dinamo Bucuresti, an advantage that is enough to see
them through no matter of the outcome in the last 2 matches.

My tip: Galatasaray to win

Valencia – Lille 02.12.2009

Valencia last 5 matches:  draw win draw win draw

Valencia last 3 home matches: win draw draw

Lille last 5 matches: win Lost win Lost win

Lille last 3 away matches: win Lost Lost

With 2 more games to go in the group stage of the Europa League
things look very complicated in Group B as Lille lead the table with 7
points followed by Valencia and Genoa with 6.

A crucial match for Valencia in this competition as any result but a
victory might let Genoa in the second spot of the group.

The team is 4th in the Spanish Primera Division with 5 points gap
from leaders Barcelona and one from third Sevilla. Although they show a
good form, their run so far has been inconsistent and lately
characterized by a lot of draws.

In the Europa League, the 2 draws against Slavia Praha, last in the
standings, will probably cost them and as the next confrontation is a
trip to Genoa things look very complicated.

Lille top Group B for the moment but only with the slightest of
margins in front the next 2 teams. Their main advantage for advancing is
the last match that they will play at home against Sparta as Valencia
and Genoa will most probably battle it out for the remaining spot.

My tip: Valencia to win

Hamburg – Rapid Wien 02.12.2009

Rapid Wien last 5 matches: Lost

Rapid Wien last 3 away matches: win draw draw

With no victories in the last 6 matches played either in the German
Bundesliga or Europa League, Hamburger SV is not in the best of forms as
they face Rapid Wien in Group C.

Hamburg totaled 7 points in 4 matches played in the group stages of
the Europa League, now placing themselves on the second spot of the
table, 2 points from leaders Hapoel Tel Aviv.

A victory in this match will assure their qualification as Rapid Wien
is the only team that could threaten their further participation in the
competition and they will certainly want to avenge the embarrassing 3-0
defeat administered by their adversaries in the first match between the
teams.

Rapid Wine, with 4 points in total, is condemned to win this one if
they are to stand any chance of claiming the second spot of the group.

Their only victory in the competition was obtained against Hamburg
early on and took one point in their trip to Celtic as they stood no
chance against Hapoel in the 2 legs.

My tip: Hamburg to win

Werder Bremen – Athletic Bilbao 01.10.2009

Werder last 5 matches:  draw win draw win win

Werder last 3 home matches: draw win win

Bilbao last 5 matches: win win win lost lost

Bilbao last 3 away matches: draw win lost

With similar position in their own leagues, Werder Bremen and
Athletic Bilbao will most likely provide a close game in witch the
German side will push for the offensive and the Spanish club will hold
out and strike on the counter-attack.

Werder Bremen is 6th in the Bundesliga with 7 games played so far and
12 points earned. They show a good game playing in front of the home
crowd with 2 victories one draw and one game lost.

In the Europa League both teams have won their first matches, for
Werder away to Nacional in a close contest ended with a 2-3 scoreline
and Athletic Bilbao at home hosting Austria Wine in a match that
finished 3-0.

Athletic Bilbao is certainly the more confident team in Europe after
disposing so easily of their Austrian adversaries but the last 2 matches
played in the Spanish Primera Division where big disappointments with
losses to Tenerife 0-1 and a humiliating blow suffered in the last leg
against Sevilla at home, 0-4 the final score.

My tip: Werder Bremen to win
