End of the road for the 2009-2010 season in the French Ligue 1 with this last round playing out on Saturday and Olympique Lyon in desperate need of a victory to grab their spot for the Champions League against an already relegated Le Mans.

Lyon’s form has taken an important plunge in the last part of the season and the team has only 2 victories in the last 5 matches played in the competition, really complicating their position and in case of a negative result here they can end up with only and Europa League spot.

Not even the home ground form remained untouched as they ended 2 of the last 3 matches played in draws leaving them with 11 victories and 4 draws in 18 played.

This should be a really relaxed trip for Le Mans, no real motivation for them other than prestige as they have a total of 32 points and are already relegated.

Two more rounds to go in the French Ligue 1 and Olympique Marseille will havea relaxed trip to OSC Lille after grabbing the champions title last week.

Lille on the other hand need nothing else but a victory in this match if they are to hold chances to the second spot they now hold. Their biggest threat is Lyon which sit just 2 points behind with one match less played and with very good odds of surpassing them as their schedule is far easier.

Only 2 victories for them in the last 5 matches played but still retaining the best statistic for home play with 13 victories and 3 draws in all 18 played and an impressive goal ratio of 43 scored and only 13 conceded.

Olympique Marseille managed to beat the odds, and with a superb push in the last stages grabbed the title of champions in France. They won the last 5 matches played but it’s pretty sure that they will not push as hard in this match.

They hold the best statistic for away play with 9 victories and 6 draws in 18 played but it’s hard to see them grabbing any points from this as Lille are very motivated to fight for their chance at a Champions League spot.

Only 4 more rounds to go in the French Ligue 1 and Lille need to secure their spot in the Champions League for next season as they face pressure from Montpellier and Olympique Lyon, making this match with Nancy very important.

Leading the French Ligue 1 with a comfortable advantage, Olymique Marseille are very close to grab the title of champions and every match from now on is decisive including this one against relegation threaten Saint-Etienne.

With 33 round gone in the Ligue 1 and only 5 more matches to go, Marseille have a 5 point advantage over second and only opposition Auxerre with the team displaying a very good form with 6 straight victories in the competition.

Interesting development at the top of the French Ligue 1 with no less than 5 teams still in the books for claiming the championship title and with encouraging recent performances Auxerre have made their bid.

Auxerre has now become Olympique Marseille’s greatest competitor for the top spot, trailing the leaders by 5 point and ahead of teams like Lyon and Bordeaux, Auxerre is yet another surprise team that popped up in the top of the table as Montpellier previously.

The team has only won 2 out of the past 5 matches played but their last loss in the Ligue 1 dates back to early February and with only this competition on their mind this stage of the season they have to take every game seriously if they are to grab a Champions League spot for the summer.
