Derby match on Sunday in the French Ligue 1 as title chasers Marseille and Lyon go head to head in a bid to lessen the handicap from the leader.

Olympique Marseille has displayed a great form in past matches, managing an impressive 8 game winning streak that makes them favorites in the odds.

They are just one point bellow their current adversaries, Lyon, but no less than 9 separate them from current leaders and trophy favorites PSG.

Lyon is in fine form as well with no less than six victories in their last seven matches played but their defeat away to Montpellier two weeks ago had a great impact on their chances of catching up with PSG.

Already a victory to their name this week as they went past Lorient in the Coupe de La Ligue in extra time but it will be interesting to seen how Lyon will perform away once again especially with the pressure of this derby.

Round 21 of the French Ligue 1 with the last match of the week taking place Sunday night as Stade Rennes welcomes a direct rival Olympique Marseille.

Rennes is currently on the 5th spot of the Ligue 1 table with a total of 35 points, just one bellow third in line Lille and the same amounts as forth Lyon but with an inferior goal ratio.

A great form showed by them in latest matches with four straight victories including the narrow qualification in Coupe de France last week. Great room for advancing but very close to it’s followers, it’s clear any result can bring dramatic changes at the top of the board.

Olympique Marseille sits just one point and one spot behind their current rivals so they share the same hopes ant threats as their opponents do.

Great form for them as well with a six game winning streak leading to an anticipated fixture that can go either way. It will be interesting to see how these two teams with great defensive force and reputable attack will perform head to head.

A very important fixture in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday as second PSG welcomes third in the standings OSC Lille both teams having the possibility to get the top spot after this round.

PSG is on the second spot of the table but with a total of 36 points in all 17 played, they are separated from surprising leaders Montpellier only due to the goal balance.

This could be a crucial match for PSG in their search for the trophy after an enthusiastic transfer campaign. A victory here can take out Lille as a challenger whilst a loss can leave them with an important deficit.

Lille is on the third spot of the Ligue 1 table, just two points behind their current adversaries but experiencing a far better form with 4 victories in their last 5 played.

Despite this they have suffered an early and painful exit from the champions league, finishing on the last spot of Group B. This will certainly make them focus exclusively on the domestic league starting from this point.

A very interesting fixture in French Ligue 1 on Saturday as Olympique Marseille host Bordeaux in the last match of the day.

Marseille experiencing a rise in form in latest matches, managing to win their past 3 fixtures including their Champions League match this week against Borussia Dortmund that granted them access in the next phase of the competition.

Fine form for them in home matches as well with 4 victories in their past 5 games played in all competitions but with a total of just 24 points in the table they are far from the top teams with little room to advance even if they win this one.

Bordeaux on the other hand is on a disappointing 12th spot of the table with a total of just 19 points in all 16 games played and a negative goal balance.

Raining champions of the Ligue 1, OSC Lille is striving to gather points and most importantly get into form with this match against Brest being a great opportunity to catch momentum.

They managed to end a streak of four consecutive games without victory this week, as they defeated CSKA Moskva in the Champions League group stage and with some good performances on home ground throughout they are favorite for all 3 points here.

Ligue 1 leaders PSG take to the field on Sunday in a match that makes them clear favorites for all three points against a struggling Nancy.

Although having a modest start to the season, the huge investments made this summer by PSG seem to pay off as the team is in the driver’s seat of the Ligue 1 with a total of 30 points in 13 played, followed closely by Montpellier three points behind.

No less than nine straight victories for PSG in home games with matches both in the Ligue 1 and Europa League, a real performance that they look to maintain and improve.

Nancy on a relegation spot for now as they managed only 11 points in all 13 matches played in the competition. They still have room for improvements as teams in the lower half are very close but a change in play is necessary.

Failing to win any of the 6 games played away in the competition it’s hard to see them managing a positive results against the leaders themselves.

A single match to be played on Saturday in the French Ligue 1 as raining champions OSC Lille welcome newly promoted Evian TG.

They suffered an important defeat in the last round, losing 2-0 away to PSG and allowing their rivals to take the driver’s seat with a strong chance for the trophy after the summer’s investments.

Nancy has failed to win any games in the competition this season, only 5 draws in 9 played for them and negative a goal balance of -4, claiming the last spot of the table, two points below salvation.

With 3 defeats and one draw in away matches this season, it’s hard to see them claiming a positive result against Lyon especially as their morale is very low.

Marseille only on the 13th spot of the table so far as they totaled just 7 points in 8 games played, already reaching a considerable 10 point gap from leaders Lyon and a -2 goal balance.

They are showing an alternating form throughout, mixing surprising results and loss of points with clear victory as the case this week when they defeated Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the Champions League.

Brest is in the danger zone as they sit on the 18th spot but with a total of 6 points so far they are just one below their current adversaries making for a very animated development in the bottom half of the chart.
