The fifth round in the French Ligue 1 as well with Bordeaux struggling for points as they take on newly promoted Evian TG on Saturday.

Bordeaux with a very poor start to the new season as they sit on a disappointing 13 spot in the table with a total of just five points, same as their opponents and no less than four from current leaders Montpellier.

They managed their first victory in the league in the last round played before the national team’s break as they defeated Valenciennes 1-2 away.

Evian TG, as the new team in the Ligue 1, has the clear objective to avoid relegation but so far their results where not that encouraging as they total 5 points as well, 3 points above the red zone.

Their only victory was obtained against Nice but they lost important points in the other games against modest adversaries so it will be an uphill battle for them.

Derby match on Sunday in the Ligue 1, game counting for round 4 of the competition as last season’s champions OSC Lille welcome the team that placed second Olympique Marseille.

Both teams with a poor start to the new season and far from the form showed last season. Lille is currently on the 9th spot of the table with a total of four points gathered in their opening stage one all draw away to Nancy and a victory against Caen.

They lost one game to the league’s current surprising leaders Montpellier but Marseille is no doubt the toughest team they encountered this season.

Marseille with just 3 points managed so far in their 3 games played, all finished in draws, two all Sochaux and Auxerre and a goalless draw last week against saint-Etienne.

They are desperate for a win especially as they will have a series of very strong opponents in the next weeks with both the Ligue 1 and the Champions League competitions putting pressure on them.

Starting the new season far from anyone’s expectations, PSG is desperate to grab it’s first 3 points in the competition as they welcome Valenciennes this Sunday.

Only one point managed by PSG in the two rounds that have been played so far in the Ligue 1, a surprising defeat at home against Lorient in the opening match and a one all draw against Rennes last week.

They have managed a clar and crushing victory this week against Differdange 03 of Luxembourg in the Europa League preliminaries but this doesn’t even come close to their ambitions after the sums spent on transfers this summer.

Valenciennes with a similar record so far in the Ligue 1 as they lost the opening match away to Caen and finished in a goalless draw last week when they welcomed Brest.

PSG will be no doubt the strongest opponent that they have met so far and with no victories in their last 5 games played it’s hard to see them get any points from this one.
