Table positions: Dortmund -3 , Kaiserslautern -6

Kaiserslautern away table position: -8

With most of the matches in day 5 of the Bundesliga taking place on Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund is certainly looking forward to capitalize on their very good form with another victory against Kaiserslautern.

Borussia Dortmund in on roll, reaching a 5 game winning streak with 3 victories in the Bundesliga and 2 in the Europa League but more importantly their morale is sky high and the team is thinking seriously about the league trophy.

The weekend match was especially important for them as they managed to defeat rivals Schalke 04 ( 1-3 ) in a superb display of football and tactics  in this all important derby.

Kaiserslautern seems to have entered a difficult period in the Bundesliga, after their 2 victories in the start of the season the team grabbed only one point from the last 2.

They managed an important point with a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim last week especially when considering their opponent’s defensive.

My pick:  Borussia Dortmund to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Table positions: Mainz -1 , Koln -12

Day five in the German Bundesliga kicks off on Tuesday with the surprising leaders Mainz 05 welcoming FC Koln.

After 4 matches in the new season, Mainz has taken the driver’s seat with an incredible record of 4 victories and a total of 12 points.

The team’s performances are emphasized even more by the caliber of opponents defeated, among them, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen away last week.

FC Koln is currently on the 12th spot of the Bundesliga table with 4 points in 4 matches played. Their only victory so far was hard earned 1-0 win over newly promoted St. Pauli 2 weeks ago.

Their last result in the competition gives them hope and morale for this difficult trip, as they managed to hold raining champions Bayern Munchen to a goalless draw last week by closing all paths to the goal and playing an exact defensive game.

My pick:  Mainz to win ( under 2.5 goals )

Bayer Leverkusen – Nurnberg 19 September 2010

Nurnberg last 5 league matches: winwindrawlostdraw

Nurnberg last 3 away match: windrawdraw

Table positions: Leverkusen -8 , Nurnberg -15

Leverkusen home table position: -18

Nurnberg away table position: -12

A great oportunity for Bayer Leverkusen to climb up a few spots in the Bundesliga table as they welcome Nurnberg for the 4th match of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen currently only on the 8th spot of the table with a total of just 4 points in 3 matches played from one victory and one draw.

They started the season in force with a superb 0-2 victory away to Borussia Dortmund but failed to capitalize as they lost inexplicably at home against M’gladbach 3-6.

Nurnberg is confirming early on their status as relegation candidate with only 2 points to their name so far and the 15th spot of the table out of 16 teams.

Their last match resulted in an encouraging one all draw against title chasers Hamburger SV but there’s little hope to repeat this here.

My pick:  Bayer Leverkusen to win (  over 2.5 goals )

Koln away table position: -14

Raining champions Bayern Munchen have a very though match on their hands this Saturday when they welcome Koln.

Bayern is in desperate need of points as they sit only on the 11th spot of the Bundesliga table with 4 points in 3 matches played.

They will certainly want to capitalize on their morale boosting victory this week against AS Roma in the champions league and grab their second victory in the league.

FC Koln with a hesitant start to the new season as they lost to Kaiserslautern and Werder Bremen in the first to round only to grab a much needed victory against Saint Pauli by the slightest of margins.

Their weakest point is no doubt their defense as the team conceded no less than 7 goals in the first 2 matches played.

My pick:  Bayern Munchen to win ( over 2.5 goals )

A series of very disputed matches in the Bundesliga this Saturday as round 3 of the new season begins and this confrontation makes no exception as Borussia Dortmund welcomes Wolfsburg.

Borussia Dortmund started the new season with a 0-2 defeat home at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen but managed to reclaim some of their pride in the second round as they defeated Stuttgart away with a very good display finished 1-3.

This is a very important match for them especially with the public behind their back hoping for a rise in form just before the Europa League group stages begin.

Wolfsburg had a awful start with 2 defeats in 2 matches played in the domestic league. They showed very weak display in the first leg away to Bayern Munchen losing in extra-time and apparently affecting their morale quite a bit.

The second round spelled disaster as they lost 3-4 on home ground against Mainz but more importantly after leading by 3 goals to nil.

My pick:  Borussia Dortmund to win ( over 2.5 goals )
