Action in Russia’s Premier League, the Championship Group stage on Tuesday as CSKA Moskva attempts to hold it’s Champions League spot as they face Kuban Krasnodar.

CSKA Moskva is on the second spot in this group stage with a total of 72 points. They have a 15 points gap from leaders Zenit but in danger of losing it’s spot as the following three teams are no more than two points below.

A dramatic turn in terms of form for CSKA Moskva in recent matches with two straight victories, managing to end a 5 game streak without any wins only to keep their fragile advantage for the spot that leads into the Champions League preliminaries.

Kuban Krasnodar is last in this group, totaling only 59 points in all 42 matches played and keeping a fragile positive goal balance of +5.

No victories for Kuban in their last seven matches played, managing five draws and suffering two defeats.

My pick: CSKA Moskva to win ( Over 2.5 goals )

Can Man Utd Overtake Man City This Weekend With Victory In Live Games?

May 4th, 2012 No comments

Once again we have four live games from Saturday to Monday and they include the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea. Here are the best bets for this weekend’s live matches.

ITV1 will be showing the FA Cup Final which is a late kick off this year at 17:15. Both sides lost during the week in games they were expected to win at home and both teams failed to score. Hopefully that was just a case of players having one eye on this match and not a sign of things to come. Liverpool already have Wembley success on their CV this season from the Carling Cup but they did need penalties to beat Cardiff whilst Chelsea have a great FA Cup record, this would be their fourth FA Cup win in six years. The FA Cup is traditionally a low scoring affair and under 2.5 goals should be a good bet here at 3/4 whilst Chelsea look most likely to triumph out of the two teams at quite generous odds of 6/4 against a team who has lost seven of their eleven home games since winning the Carling Cup.

On Sunday on Sky Sports 1 we have an early kick off which features Chelsea’s midweek conquerors Newcastle at home against league leaders Man City. If Man City can win this they will more or less guarantee themselves the Premiership title and they are a bit short at 4/6 to do so considering Newcastle have only lost two home games all season. Newcastle should score in this match and if Newcastle score at the moment it seems it will be Papiss Cisse who gets the goal, he is the joint 8th top scorer this season despite only signing in January! Cisse is 9/4 to score at anytime and that looks much better value than a Man City win, although the two are obviously not mutually exclusive.

The second Sky Sports 1 match on Super Sunday is Man Utd v Swansea and the home side will have been praying for a slip up from their title rivals in the earlier game. If Man City have won against Newcastle Man Utd will need to try and narrow the goal difference gap between themselves and Man City and that could see them rack up quite a wide margined win. Man Utd are 8/15 in the -1 handicap and 5/4 in the -2 handicap and both of those bets are certainly worth considering for this match.

We have a Monday Night Football offering once again this week on Sky Sports 1 and it is Blackburn and Wigan who go head to head in a full on relegation battle. Wigan have opened up a six point gap on Blackburn after five wins in seven games whilst Blackburn have lost six of their last seven league matches, only beating the woefully out of form Norwich. Wigan are a clear form pick here and at 19/10 they look really good value. Of course this is a game that could go either way but almost every match has that threat, it is not often you get almost 2/1 on a team in such better form though so Wigan should be taken as a really good value bet on Monday.

West Brom The Best Premiership Bet this Weekend Ahead Of Arsenal And Man Utd Drawing

April 27th, 2012 Comments off

There are only a few games left of the Premiership season and whilst some teams are fighting for their lives, some are just playing for pride. This point in the season can throw up some unusual results but there still should be some value to be had this weekend.

Arsenal have been in great form recently and they seem to be playing Stoke at a pretty good time but Arsene Wenger’s men still may struggle to pick up the three points on Saturday. Stoke are perceived to be in poor form, they were beaten 3-0 at Newcastle last week and have only won one of their last seven league games but they have still only lost two of their last ten league games. They may not be winning all that many but that doesn’t matter when backing the draw and Arsenal haven’t looked quite as sharp recently with Robin Van Persie now struggling for goals after a long season. The draw is decent value here at 13/5.

Sunderland’s great form under Martin O’Neill seems to have dried up and they have now failed to score in five of their last six matches. Their last two home games have both been 0-0 and they have only conceded three goals in their last seven league home games. They host Bolton on Saturday, a team that is hardly prolific and a team that failed to score in two of their last four matches. This looks a good candidate for 0-0 and that is worth covering at 12/1 but for bigger bets it should pay to play it safe by backing under 2.5 goals at evens.

West Brom can be a bit hit and miss, they have won three and lost three of their last six league games, but on Saturday they face Aston Villa who have certainly been more miss recently, they haven’t won in seven league games and have only won once in thirteen league games. West Brom have won four of their last six at home and should be good value at 6/5 to win this Midlands derby.

Finally in what is probably the game of the season on Monday, we could see a tighter match than many expect as Man Utd need to just avoid defeat to all but wrap up the Premiership title. Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to set his team up to be as solid as possible and another low scoring encounter could be in store after the 0-0 last season and 0-1 the season before. Under 2.5 goals is worth a bet at 6/5 with the bookies expecting more goals than we are likely to see whilst it is also worth backing the draw, a result Man Utd may play for, at 13/5.

Weekend’s Best Premier League Bets

April 27th, 2012 Comments off

Attention for this weekend’s football treble is given to those teams struggling to remain in the Premier League. The predicted outcomes are all odds against and could be backed as singles or in a treble, with a return of 18/1 if all three are correctly predicted.

Sunderland v Bolton – Draw @ 13/5

After his amazing start at the Stadium of Light, Martin O’Neill has had to watch hisSunderlandside struggle over the last few weeks with no wins from their last six games. The Black Cars have drawn four of and lost twice in that time but are of course completely safe from relegation, sitting in 11th place. However, their poor run of form could open the door for relegation threatenedBoltonto continue their current momentum that has seen them move to the cusp of safety.

Boltonhaven’t been consistent of late but have secured four league victories in their last seven games and in doing so, the team have re-discovered their zest and determination. Therefore, despite the fact that they are the only side in the Premier League that has failed to draw a match away from home this season, they can end that trend on Saturday when they visit the Stadium of Light.

West Brom v Aston Villa – Home Win @ 6/5

With the club publicly urging their fans to get behind their manager Alex McLeish, this demonstrates the fact that Aston Villa know that one more defeat could put them in serious danger of relegation. Villa have gone seven games without a win and sit just above the drop zone on 36 points and have three very difficult fixtures to come to avoid the drop starting with this visit to the Hawthorns.

West Brom beat Villa 2-1 atVilla Parkin the reverse fixture earlier this season and look good value to repeat that feat. They come to the game in 10th place in the table and having won three of their last four games. Although their general home form includes nine defeats has left a lot to be desired, The Baggies should have enough about them to rub salt into Villa wounds and with this being a Birmingham Derby, there’s plenty of reason why the home side should be motivated to win.

Wigan v Newcastle – Away Win @ 8/5

Just when Roberto Martinez had thought hisWiganwere on the march to safety with shock wins over Manchester United and Arsenal, along came Fulham to dampen their high spirits by beating them 2-1 last week.

This week, Wigan’s spirits might well be in for a soaking with a rampant Newcastle United coming to the DW Stadium on the back of six straight Premier League wins in which they have conceded just one goal. This hugely impressive run of form has lifted the Magpies into the fourth place and on course to qualify for the Champions League next season. Alan Pardew’s side will know that if they are to stay there, then they must show no mercy toWiganthis week and come away with all three points, something they should be more than capable of.

Other bets to consider this weekend come from Steve Claridge’s tips column where the former player and BBC pundit is tipping Nottingham Forest, Southampton and West Ham all to finish the Championship season in winnings ways whilst he’s also predicting wins for Liverpool and Tottenham as well as a draw in the West London Derby between Chelsea and QPR.

Arsenal To Dent Chelsea’s Champions League Hopes In Live TV Best Bets

April 19th, 2012 Comments off

Four live games to look forward to this weekend as the Premiership begins to reach its climax and there is still plenty to play for both at the top and the bottom of the league so this week’s fixtures should not only provide some good bets but also further evidence of which teams will be going down and which teams will be playing Champions League football next season.

The early game on Saturday on Sky Sports 2 is Arsenal v Chelsea and this should be the best game of the weekend. Arsenal look to have a great chance of victory as they remain the form team in the division having lost just one of their last ten at the time of writing, a run in which they have picked up 50% more points than Chelsea despite Chelsea getting some very favourable refereeing decisions in that time. It is also worth noting that Chelsea have generally been fairly poor on the road with one win in six and Chelsea have also been by far the busier of the two teams recently, this will be Chelsea’s third game in seven days and fifteenth game in seven weeks. Arsenal are evens to win this one and that looks good value.

A win for Arsenal would for once be a huge boost for Spurs who feature in the Saturday evening kick off on ESPN, Spurs are looking to finish fourth this season but have generally been in poor form for the last month or so, especially away from White Hart Lane where they have won just once in the league from nine attempts. Spurs aren’t defending well at the moment and with their reputation for scoring plenty many will be backing over 2.5 goals but QPR don’t have bundles of goals in them and Spurs have averaged less than a goal a game away from home during their poor run so under 2.5 goals looks value at 21/20 currently.

The early kick off on Sunday for Sky Sports 1’s double bill is Man Utd v Everton and this should be a hugely competitive fixture. It was another comfortable win for Man Utd at Old Trafford last week whilst Everton went out of the FA Cup, again showing that they could do with more firepower. Everton have scored just 38 league goals this season, no teams in the top three quarters of the division has a worse record. Man Utd meanwhile have won six of their last seven league games with clean sheets so another win to nil looks a very good bet here, 11/10 are the odds on this selection and that looks much better value than Man Utd just winning the game at 1/3.

A win for Man Utd would make a win for Man City crucial if they are to stay in the title chase and they face Wolves at Molineux and luckily for them Carlos Tevez seems to have breathed new life into the team after they were going a bit stale. Tevez got a hat trick last week and he will fancy himself for more goals here against Wolves who have lost their last eight games and conceded 28 goals in those matches. Tevez should be backed to score at anytime at 4/7 here with Man city expected to win by at least a few goals.
