Barcelona with a dent in their morale after losing the Copa Del Rey final against Real Madrid this week, return to the pitch as they welcome Osasuna in the Primera Division.

The Catalans sit top of the chart in the league with a total of 85 points, no less than 7 over their bitter rivals Real Madrid, making them virtual champions with 6 more rounds to go.

Barcelona will certainly be looking for a clear victory to wash away the defeat in the cup and Osasuna, with it’s poor display seems tobe the perfect victim.

Osasuna is struggling to get out of the danger zone, they have totaled 35 points, only 2 above the first team to relegate and with 3 straight losses their mission looks quite hard.

They are known as a strong team on home pitch especially as they managed to motivate themselves against strong opponents but as far as away statistic is concerned this season, they have the poorest of them all in La Liga.

My pick:  Barcelona to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Closing match of round 32 in the Spanish Primera Division and the only game to be played on Monday as Villarreal welcomes Real Zaragoza.

Villarreal on the 4th spot of the table as the stage begun with a total of 54 points and a favorite to grab the last place leading into next season’s of the Champions League.

They are going through a though phase in the competition with only one victory in the last 5 played and 2 straight defeats against Valencia and Barcelona, nonetheless retaining a good statistic on home ground with 11 victories and 3 draws in all 16 played.

Real Zaragoza is just above the relegation spot with a total of just 33 points, after most matches in this round they stand above Mallorca due only to their better goal ratio.

Only one victory and 6 draws for them so far in away matches in all 15 played and as expected a negative goal balance of 8 scored whilst conceding 20.

El Clasico in the Spanish Primera Division and the first of 4 matches between the teams as Real Madrid and Barcelona will meet Wednesday for the Copa del Rey final and in the semi-finals of the Champions League, all within less than a month.

Real Madrid trail their bitter rivals by 8 points now and any result other than a victory would mean Barcelona are virtual champions for a second year as only 6 round remain after this one.

Pressure is high on Mourinho’s squad after their disappointing 5-0 loss in the first part of the season on Camp Nou and especially as this match will be an indication of things to come.

Real Madrid managed 14 victories in all 15 matches played on home ground in La Liga this season, their only loss came as a big surprise in the last game played on Santiago Bernabeu when Sporting Gijon just edged the victory.

Barcelona are clear favorites for another championship title as they stand at a comfortable 8 point advantage over their rivals but a loss on Real’s pitch would revive the battle for the top spot and the trophy.

The Catalans have a moral advantage over their rivals after their superb performance in the first part of the season but this match is crucial as it can close the title race early on giving them time to prepare for their Champions League attempt.

They managed 13 victories and 2 draws in all 15 matches played away this season in the competition with a goal balance of 43 scored and only 6 conceded making this a clash between the league’s best offensives and defensives.

My pick:  Barcelona to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Round 31 in the Spanish Primera Division and among Sunday’s matches this clash between Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad.

Atletico Madrid with a disappointing season so far, only the 8th spot in the table with 42 points and a big gap to fill if they are to play in Europa League next season.

They managed an important victory in the last round away to the always difficult Osasuna which will give them a morale boost and coped with their good track record on home pitch, Atletico is favorite to take all 3 points here.

Real Sociedad is in the lower part of the chart with a total of 35 points, 7 handicap from their current adversaries but 6 above the relegation zone.

They have failed to win any of the past 6 matches in the Primera Division, losing 5 of them and their away statistic shows only 3 victories and 1 draw in all 15 played so far.

My pick:  Atletico Madrid to win ( over 2.5 goals )

A good opportunity for Sevilla on Sunday to make an important jump in the Primera Division chart if they defeat relegation threatened Real Zaragoza.

Sevilla with a disappointing season so far, only the 7th spot for them with a total of 42 points, no less than 12 handicap from the last spot that leads into the Champions League next season.

They are a strong team on home ground recently as they managed 2 victories and a draw against the mighty Barcelona in the last 3 played in the competition.
