Favorites of the group and one of the top teams who always post their bid for the ultimate trophy, Germany will welcome Australian in a match that normally will not pose much trouble for them.
Germany look like the most likely team to win this group but some problems may emerge from the clash with Serbia. The team is highly determined to make a good impression from the start and this match against Australia may prove to be a good morale boost.
Not a very good impression left by them in the friendly matches as they ended in a 2-2 draw against Cote d’Ivoire and lost to Argentina managing to win the last 3 with little opposition from Malta, Hungry and Bosnia.
Australia is the most likely candidate for the last spot of the group. Don’t be fulled by their ranking in the FIFA world chart, this team is far from the top 20 teams of the world.
Good results for them in the friendlies leading up to the World Cup tournament and a big surprise as they managed to win against Denmark 1-0 but a loss in the last one, 1-3 against the USA.
My tip: Germany to win (3-0 scoreline)
I think this years could see the Netherlands run out winners. Even though Germany looked pretty special last night, there is always at least one side that looks amazing early doors and then slips up against a lesser team – England maybe? There is normally one side that starts off slowly and gets better before running out winners too…
Having said that the prospect of facing Germany on the next round doesn’t fill me with optimism so lets hope we stick a few away in the next couple of games!!
