France Group D spot: 1

Big night for Romania as it unveils the new National Arena stadium that will host this year’s Europa League final in the presence of Group D leaders France.

Romania still hoping for a qualifying spot to next year’s Euro 2012 final tournament but by the look of the group standings and play, their hopes lie more in the fantasy realm.

They managed a victory last week in what can now be called a group derby as they defeated Luxembourg 2-0 the final score but they are still on a disappointing 4th spot of the table with a total of 11 points in 7 matches played, five below their current adversaries France and two below next in line Bosnia.

France is right on track to qualify to the final tournament as they lead Group D with a total of 16 points in all 7 played. Only Belarus managed to dampen their great run after a 2-1 victory in France and an one all draw in Belarus.

They managed a 2-0 scoreline against Romania on Stade de France in October last year after a match that they clearly dominated, Romania managing to reach their box only one or twice in the entire game.

My tip:  France to win ( under 2.5 goals )

Brazil world ranking: 6

Ghana world ranking: 36

Friendly match on Monday with Brazil’s superstars welcoming Ghana, a match in which Brazil is considered as host but is to be played in London.

Certainly the fixture that will grab the attention as it’s the most important of the day, the second friendly for Brazil after the disastrous run in the Copa America.

Brazil lost against Germany last month in a spectacular 3-2 game and pressure is mounting on the team as fans are not used to these results. An important thing to watch for will be Ronaldinho’s return to the national side after 10 months.

Ghana in a slightly better shape that their opponents as they are already qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations with one match remaining to be played in Group 9 of the preliminaries.

M. Essien will be their biggest player to miss out on this match due to an injury and this could have a great impact on their midfield play.

My tip:  Brazil to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Czech last 3 away matches: loss draw loss

Scotland Group I spot: 4

Czech Group I spot: 2

The only match to be played on Saturday in the Euro 2012 qualifying stages as Scotland welcomes the Czech Republic in Group I of the preliminaries.

Scotland currently ranked 4th in the group standings with a total of just 4 points in all 4 played, amazingly the same amount of points as last in line Liechtenstein, team that has played 6 games so far.

A slight edge for Scotland in the bookies eyes as they host the game and welcome a struggling opponent but the statistic is not on their side as they lost early in the competition when they traveled to the Czech Republic 1-0 the final score.

The Czech republic, although currently on the second spot of the group table, bellow World champions Spain, are running through a a very though time as they managed only one victory in the last 7 games played in all competitions.

They are far from achieving the qualification and with Scotland as their main competitors for the second group spot this will most likely prove to be a decisive match in the overall configuration.

My tip:  Draw  ( under 2.5 goals )

  • Scotland (62%, 13 Votes)

Strongest Sides In Qualifying Expected To Dominate Euro 2012

September 2nd, 2011 Comments off

The Euro 2012 qualifiers are beginning to draw to a close, in a week’s time countries will have just two games left in which to secure qualification for next summer’s Euro 2012 tournament and Spain remain the top team for Euro 2012 despite the FIFA rankings now making them just the second best team in the world.

Holland are now the best team in the world according to FIFA but they remain the third favourites to win Euro 2012 at 13/2. Going in to this round of internationals they are one of three sides in qualifying with a 100% record and clearly a major contender based on this and their performances at the World Cup2010 where they were only beaten by Spain in the final in extra time. Spain have slipped down to second in the FIFA rankings but the bookies still think they can win their third major international tournament in a row after Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010, Spain are 3/1 in the Euro 2012 Odds and are clearly going to be the side to beat, they too have so far won every match in qualifying.

Both Holland and Spain have the opportunity to gain huge wins during this international fixture list, Holland take on San Marino who are ranked 203 in the world whilst Spain will play Liechtenstein who are 119th in the FIFA rankings. These should be the two most one sided games of the week with both teams available at just 1/100 to win their respective games.

Germany are the other team that have so far won each game in qualifying and they are the other strong fancy for Euro 2012, the bookies have Germany as the second favourites and they have probably been the best backed side in the past 12 months, they are down to 9/2 with most bookies to be successful next summer. Germany take on Austria this week and they are unexpected to continue their winning streak in that match to secure qualification. Germany went into the World Cup over a year ago with a team full of young talent but now many of those players have developed into world class players and worryingly for Spain they could be even better in 12 months time.

England are fourth favourites at 9/1 but don’t look in the same class as the first three in the betting. England take on Bulgaria and Wales in the next week and they would have to win both those games very easily to look likely Euro 2012 winners. France and Italy are next best at 11/1 and 12/1 respectively but both teams look on the downgrade, a better alternative could be Portugal who may be overpriced at 18/1 currently.

Germany – Austria 2.09

Germany Group A spot: 1

Austria Group A spot: 4

Interesting to see how would Germany approach this match against neighbors Austria as they have already qualified to the Euro 2012 final tournament after a superb campaign.

Germany is top of Group A as they total no less than 21 points in all 7 played, a perfect run for them with none of the opposing teams living up to their standards.

They have managed to score no less than 22 goals, over 3 per match in the statistic and conceded 3, making their goal balance an unbelievable +19.

Austria is on the 4th spot of the Group A table with a total of 7 points, they sit 4 bellow second spot holders Belgium with a game less played so there are still chances to qualify even if Turkey is the next big contender.

They have managed to win only one game in the past 8 played, a truly negative record for Austria and their morale is no doubt low.

My tip:  Germany to win  ( under 2.5 goals )
