Bundesliga  table positions: Bayern - 1, Koln - 10

Round 17 of the German Bundesliga starting on Friday with leaders Bayern Munchen looking to conserve their fragile advantage as they host FC Koln.

Bayern Munchen is currently on the top spot of the Bundesliga table with a total of 34 points, three above next in line Borussia Dortmund and third Schalke 04 and although they are set to keep their position no matter what happens in this game due to their superior goal balance, any point is now important with the winter break approaching fast.

They are the clear favorites for all 3 points here but the team has experienced alternating results lately, between great and clear victories to painful losses, the last in the Bundesliga being the trip to Mainz, 3-2 the final score for the home side.

FC Koln only n the 10th spot of the Bundesliga table with a total of just 21 points in all 16 games played and with the pack so close together they are just 6 points above the relegation zone whilst experiencing a very poor form in the competition.

Only one victory for FC Koln in their last 5 matches played in the Bundesliga but with some hope of a rise in form as they managed to gather 5 points in their last 3 games played. Their situation in away games is disastrous as they failed to win any on the past 5 games, losing 4 and managing only one draw against Stuttgart.

My pick: Bayern Munchen to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Group J  table positions: Steaua - 3, Larnaca - 4

Only one spot left in Group J of Europa League with Schalke 04 already claiming the top spor, Steaua Bucuresti welcomes AEK Larnaca in a decisive match.

Steaua Bucuresti is currently on the third spot of the group standings with a total of 5 points in all 5 matches played so far. They sit just one point below second Maccabi Haifa and with the same amount of points as their current opponents.

They will need nothing short of a victory in this match and hope that Maccabi will not win against Schalke to claim the second spot and qualify in the next phase of Europa League.  Their form has improved in latest matches and with it so did their confidence and with a packed stadium behind them, Steaua is the clear favorite of this match.

AEK Larnaca, still retaining chances of it’s own to qualify, but as Steaua they will not depend only on their own performance and will have to wait for the other match in Group J.

Great form for them as they managed to win their last 5 games played including a superb and somewhat surprising victory in the UEL over Maccabi. They where regarded as underdogs in their home game against Steaua but the reality in the field was far from expectation with AEK Larnaca attacking and dominating for a good part of the match that ended in a one all draw.

My pick: Steaua Bucuresti to win ( under 2.5 goals )

  • AEK Larnaca (9%, 1 Votes)

Group D  table positions: Lazio - 2, Sporting - 1

Last matches in Europa League’s group phase with a very interesting situation in Group D where Lazio welcomes Sporting.

Lazio is desperate for a victory in this match to advance into the next stage of the competition. The situation is tricky in the standings as Lazio is second to an already qualified Sporting, but with a total of 6 points, FC Vaslui of Romania can take their place.

TWo victories for them in their last two matches have certainly raised their morale and as the motivated team in this duel they will certainly have the better chance for all 3 points.

Sporting Lisbon, on the other hand, escaped the worries of this decisive stage, managing a total of 12 points in all 5 played to take the group’s top spot with a comfortable lead.

Good form for them as well with three straight victories in their last matches but most likely they will rest om of their top players in this trip.

My pick: Lazio to win ( under 2.5 goals )

Serie A  table positions: Roma - 10, Juventus - 1

Last match of the round in the Italian Serie A and the only one to be played on Monday as current leaders Juventus travel to a struggling AS Roma team.

As Roma on the 10th spot of the table with a very poor run so far especially when compared to their aspirations. They have a total of just 17 points in all 13 games played and a negative goal balance of -2.

They lost their last two matches in the Serie A, both of them played away, against Udinese and Fiorentina without coring a single goal but conceding a total of 5.

Juventus on the other hand is leading the chart at the start of this round with a total of 29 points and a superb goal balance of +14, making for their best season in years.

Only Milan can take their place in case they lose this one, but even though Roma is a reputable adversary, Juventus has no less than 6 victories in their last 7 games played.

My pick: Juventus to win ( under 2.5 goals )

Primera Division table positions: Real Madrid - 1, Barcelona - 2

El Clásico, the most spectacular football game on the planet will kick off on Saturday with Real Madrid hosting the first of the two season games against Barcelona on Santiago Bernabeu.

For the first time in a while Real Madrid lead the Spanish Primera Division with an important advantage over Barcelona and are regarded as favorites to win this match.

No less than 15 consecutive victories for Real Madrid in matches both in the Primera Division and Champions League for an unbelievable streak that gives them a superb morale and an appetite for revenge after losing the Super Cup to their bitter rivals.

Barcelona far from the strength showed in past seasons as they manage to surprise with very poor results against unexpected adversaries such as Athletic Bilbao or Getafe. They are now second in the Primera division table with a total of 34 points, 3 less than Real Madrid but with one more game played than their opponents.

Barcelona’s players and officials surprised everyone with their statements that Real is a clear favorite for victory and above all else this could be a strategy to ease the motivation on their opponents.

My pick: Draw ( over 2.5 goals )
