Wishing to restore confidence after their one all draw against Ajaccio last week, Olympique Lyon have no other option but victory in their trip to Brest on Saturday in the French Ligue 1.

Brest the clear underdog of this match, even as they play at home they are up against one of the most influential clubs in Europe and even a draw here would be considered a great result.

They have won only one match in the last 5 played and managed two draws in the Ligue 1 against newly promoted Evian TG and the modest Valenciennes.

The final round in the Champions League preliminary kicks off on Tuesday with Olympique Lyon welcoming Rubin Kazan in one of the more interesting and balanced matches.

Lyon with a m0dest start to the new season as they managed only 4 points in the first two matches played in Ligue 1, a conclusive 1-3 trip to Nice but a surprising one all draw on home ground last week against newly promoted Ajaccio.

It’s fair to say that their fitness levels are not at optimum values and the most problematic department so far seems to be their defensive. They disposed of neighbors Dynamo Kiev in the previous round of the preliminaries after wining both legs, 0-2 away and a comfortable 2-1 at home to qualify further.

Second round in the Ligue 1 season as well with giants Olympiqe Lyon hopping to restore their former glory one match at a time and having to play against Ajaccio this Saturday in what seems to be an easy game.

Lyon with a great start to the new season as they managed to defeat Nice 1-3 the final score although receiving a goal early on in the 6th minute.

Their friendly matches results this summer where somewhat modest making the first few games of the season very important in terms of morale and with a bit of luck as they encounter relatively modest teams, Lyon could build up confidence for the long trip ahead.

Ajaccio is fresh from the 2nd division and it’s chances of remaining in the Ligue 1 at the end of the season look very small especially when considering their poor display in the opening home game against Toulouse, 0-2 the final score for the visitors.

Small to little chances of them achieving a positive result in this difficult trip and all their hopes will certainly rely on next week’s encounter with Evian rather than this one.
