Pressure mounting at the top of the German Bundesliga for Bayern Munchen especially as they face a difficult trip to Mainz 05 on Sunday.

Mainz is far from last season’s performances and after Friday and Saturday matches they hold a precarious 16th spot in the Bundesliga table with a total of 12 points but only 12 matches played so far.

Only two victories for them in the past 12 games played in all competition but a slight rise in form in recent ones and although Bayern is the favorite, Mainz has a good chance to restore it’s confidence.

Bayern Munchen, on the top spot of the league before this leg started, now on the third place as both Borussia Dortmund and Monchengladback have one point advantage.

Five victories in their last 6 played including a 3-1 win over Villarreal this week in the Champions League puts them in the driver’s seat for this match.

Friday match in the German Bundesliga with 2 of the teams that show real difficulties as Mainz 05 welcomes last in the chart Borussia Monchengladbach.

Mainz was the surprise in the start of the season as they held the top spot for a good period of time but now their limitations are obvious as they are in free fall.

No victories for them in the last 4 matches played in the competition made them land on the 5th spot of the Bundesliga table with pressure from next in line Nurnberg and Hamburg.

Borussia Monchengladbach is last in the table, managing only 26 points in all 29 matches played but all is not lost for them as they stand only 4 points below the safe zone.

They won a very important match last week with a good morale boosting 5-1 result against Koln so they are far from over fighting in this season.

Interesting fixture in the German Bundesliga on Saturday with leaders Borussia Dortmund coming after a defeat last week and welcoming a very difficult Mainz team.

Borussia Dortmund suffered a painful defeat in the last round away to Hoffenheim by the slightest of margins but still maintain a 9 point advantage at the top of the table over second Bayer Leverkusen.

A good statistic for them in home matches this season with 8 victories and 3 draws in all 12 played but more importantly an air tight defense as they conceded only 5 goals in front of their supporters.

Mainz 05, leaders of the table in the start of the season, sits on the 5th spot of the Bundesliga chart with a total of 43 points, only one below Bayern Munchen but feeling pressure from 6th Nurnberg.

Good results for them lately in away matches winning the last 2 played against 2 difficult teams, Hoffenheim and Hamburger SV making their away record reach 9 victories in all 13 played.
