Derby match in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday with Olympique Lyon welcoming PSG in a battle that might prove important for the top spots of the table.

Lyon steadily rising in the ranks after a very poor start to the season, 3 victories in the last 4 round gave them the oportunity to grab the 8th spot now with a total of 22 points.

Great form for them on home ground as well with 3 straight victories and a statistic showing 4 victories and 2 draws in all 7 played.

PSG continuing their very good season, third now in the ranks with just one point bellow leaders Lille and Montpellier.

Some problems for them lately in away matches where they finished the last 2 in draws against Montpellier and Lorient but a positive goal ratio of 7 scored and 5 conceded.

As the battle for the top spots in the Ligue 1 intensifies PSG is more than eager to throw it’s bid in for the first time in years and with a match against struggling Auxerre they have good chance of advancing.

PGS is showing a good form in the domestic league with 3 victories in the last 5 matches played and a strong morale after grabbing one point this week from Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

They don’t have a great record on home pitch with 2 draws in the last 2 played but their goal ratio of 8 scored and 3 conceded in 5 played shows a good defense.

After finishing on the third spot last season in the Ligue 1, Auxerre now find themselves battling to avoid the relegation spots with 9 rounds passed.

Only one victory for them in the last 9 played in all competition and their morale is as low as it gets.

One of the most evenly matches groups in the Europa League turns out to be Group J with Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Sevilla battling out for the top 2 spots.

Borussia Dortmund is currently on the second spot of the group with a total of 3 points, same as Sevilla, both trailing leaders PSG by 3 points.

Borussia Dortmund has turned up to be one of the leading forces in the new season of the Bundesliga with a very good form and results to prove it, they will certainly have the same ambitions in Europa League and will leave the 0-1 defeat against Sevilla behind if they are to qualify to the knock out phase.

One might say that PSG are the surprising leaders of this group with 6 points in 2 matches played, 0-1 away to Sevilla and 2-0 at home with outsiders Karpaty.

Very long time has passed since they where in the fight for the Ligue 1 trophy as they are in this season and a great jump from the last few years where they where struggling to avoid relegation.

Change of fortune for PSG in the last rounds of the French Ligue 1 and the team is certainly hoping that the good form will allow them to win over Nice on Sunday.

After a hesitating start to the new season, PSG managed to recover some of their losses with 2 victories in the last 3 matches played and now rank on the 5th spot of the table with a total of 11 points.

Although most of their points come from the matches on home pitch the last one brought them only 1 from a goalless draw against Rennes.

Nice is now ranking mid table on the 11th spot of the table, 2 points short of their current adversaries with a total of 9.

Unlike PSG their start to the campaign was promising but it failed to last and the team managed only one point in the last 3 round, losing the last 2 played.

Closing match of this third round in the French Ligue 1 with a very close contest between PSG and Boreaux  Sunday night.

Although they managed only the 13th spot of the table last season, PSG can hope again at higher performances as they won the Cup, their first trophy in the past few years.

Their start is encouraging as they went past Saint-Etienne 3-1 the final score and pulled one point away to Lille whilst grabbing a victory already this week against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League preliminaries.

After 2 round, Bordeaux is last in the standings failing to grab any points from their matches with Montpellier away and home against Toulouse.

It was not a easy start for them that’s sure but the team should have claimed some points from this disputes if only their offense was stronger.

My pick:  PSG to win ( under 2.5 goals, draw is also likely )
