We have reached the semi-finals stage on the Copa del Rey with the prime favorite Barcelona up against a though adversary as they travel to Valencia for the first leg of the tie.

Valencia sailed past Levante in the previous round of the Cpa del Rey, trashing their adversaries with the aggregate score of 7-1, after a 4-1 scoreline at home and a clear 0-3 victory away.

Their biggest name defeated so far in the competition has been Sevilla, which they just edged due to an away goal, but Barcelona is another matter. Not a great form for them in recent matches if we take out the cup as Valencia failed to win any of their past 4 games in the Primera Division but they still hold chances, especially in this home match.

Barcelona on the other hand, defeated their arch rivals in the previous round with an aggregate score 4-3 against Real Madrid and are now considered top favorites for the trophy.

Morale in the team is not that high after they conceded yet another blow in the league with a goalless draw against Villarreal so this will be a crucial match for them in terms of confidence.

My pick: Barcelona to win ( over 2.5 goals )

Cadiz last 5 matches: winwindrawdrawwin

Two matches to be played in the Spanish Copa del Rey on Thursday with Valencia kicking off the day as they welcome Cadiz.

Valencia clearly the favorite to win this match and qualify further in the Copa del Rey even if the first leg result was a rather surprising goalless draw.

They are currently on the third spot of the Primera Division with a stable position as they kept opposition at a distance but no real prospect of advancing as giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have an important advantage at the top. Surely the league is their main focus and top players will be rested for this one, but after a the first leg draw they will certainly push for the victory from the start.

Cadiz managed a great performance and an outstanding result in the first leg, especially for a team in the Segunda B league but it’s road in the competition will most likely end with this game.

They will certainly play a defensive game, trying to fend off Valencia’s offensive strength but will probably leave important gaps in case on an early goal.

My pick: Valencia to win ( over 2.5 goals )

  • Valencia (71%, 10 Votes)

  • Cadiz (15%, 2 Votes)

Levante last 5 matches: winwinwinwinloss

Levante last 3 home matches: winwinwin

Valencia last 5 matches: lossdrawwinwinwin

Valencia last 3 away matches: drawlosswin

Primera Division table positions: Levante - 3, Valencia - 4

Last match of the day in the Primera Division as round 11 in under way, former leaders Levante welcoming Valencia for a very interesting fixture.

Levante suffered it’s first defeat of the season lat week away to Osasuna, 2-0 the final score leaving Barcelona and Real Madrid to profit and move above them in the table standings.

Great and also unexpected start of the season for Levante, this small team leading the way for no less than 10 rounds but with very though opposition ahead they will probably slide more to a more normal mid table position.

Valencia with a great chance of passing their rivals in this direct game as only two points separate the two sides, Valencia with an edge on morale and form.

Three consecutive victories for Valencia in latest matches, two in the Primera Division and a great one this week in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen.

My pick:  Valencia to win ( over 2.5 goals )

  • Levante (44%, 4 Votes)

Table positions: Valencia - 1, Barcelona -3

No doubt the most interesting fixture on Wednesday as current leaders of the Primera division, Valencia welcome raining champions Barcelona.

Valencia up against the most difficult adversary possible as they are after a fine start to the season, managing to grab all points from all three matches played only to top the table with 9 points in total.

Santander, Atletico Madrid and Gijon where the teams they managed to defeat so far but with slight problems in the hampions League against genk is hard to see them overthrow the mighty Barcelona.

Barcelona had a hesitant start to the season in the Primera Division as they unexpectedly lost two valuable points in their two all draw against Sociedad followed by another similar result against Milan in the UCL groups.

They managed to rebuild their confidence last week in their own personal way as they trashed Osasuna 8-0 at Nou Camp wishing to prove beyond doubt they are aiming for the trophy once again.

My pick:  Barcelona to win ( over 2.5 goals )

The player’s strike is over and Primera Division is set to kick off on Saturday directly in the second round, one of the most interesting matches of the day being the fixture in which Valencia welcomes Racing Santander.

Valencia, one of the top contenders of the competition below international giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, finished last season on a honorable 3rd spot of the table.

They have managed a decent campaign in the summer break with clear morale boosting victories in friendlies against very strong adversaries such as Sporting Lisbon, Hamburg and AS Roma.

Racing Santander with a very though match ahead of them so early on in the Primera Division as they stand little chances to grab any points from this difficult trip.

They have finished last season on a modest 12th spot of the table with only 3 points above the relegation line, coped with their poor display of results in their friendly matches this summer it’s clear that their morale is low and will prefer to play an all defensive game.

My pick:  Valencia to win ( over 2.5 goals )

  • Racing Santander (11%, 1 Votes)
